EWMGA BOARD MEETING
JUNE 22, 2010
The Eagle Watch Men’s Golf Association (EWMGA) Board meeting
was started at 6:00 pm in the Eagle Watch Hearth
restaurant. Board members in attendance were Gary Janos,
Jim Gould, David Scott, Erik Rosengren, Mark Dickson, Sergio
Silva, Bob Smith, Alan Whitten and Bruce Worthington.
Guests attending were Scott Szymoniak, Rick Sandle, Phil
Suiter and Dave Johnson of the Canongate/Eagle Watch staff
and Joel Greene. Board members absent were Frank Peters and
Mike Smithson.
Scott introduced Dave Johnson as the new Eagle Watch Course
Superintendent who then led a discussion regarding the
course conditions. These comments included:

The planned
greens were sprigged three weeks ago and their current
condition appears to be about
one week ahead of plan. The staff is currently
anticipating
reopening the full
course about August 1st if the weather continues
to cooperate.

The grounds
crews are stripping and installing new grass sod on a
number of
tee boxes.

Work on the
front nine cart paths and the Hole #17 bridge will begin
after July 4th.
this will include
additional trees being removed and cart path straightening.
The
back cart paths
will still be done in next year’s budget.

Work continues
on the driving range with irrigation systems and re-sodding
of the
tee area.

The staff is
still hoping for availability of the new golf carts and
GPS systems by
the re-opening of
the full course.
Erik presented the Treasurer’s Report indicating a current
bank balance of $3,411.52. There are no debts pending
payment at this time. The EWMGA released net income of
$1,091 from the Pig Roast event. Compliments were given to
Rick Sandle and Bruce Worthington for their handling of this
event.
Erik also reported that there are still 98 current 2010
EWMGA members.
Gary led the scheduling discussion on the remaining
EWMGA-sponsored tournaments for 2010 based on the
anticipated re-opening of the full course approximately
August 1st. Phil Suiter advised that the club
has rescheduled its Club Championship tournaments to August
25-29 and the Member/Member tournament to October 16-17.
It was decided that the EWMGA-sponsored tournaments will be
scheduled as follows:

Member/Guest |
This event will remain as
originally scheduled with
the format yet to be established. Discussion was
held regarding
formats with a decision to be made at a
later board meeting. It was decided that the
event will be limited to
the first 48 teams registering.
Tournament Chairman will be Gary with Jim and
Erik assisting.

No new business was presented for discussion and this
meeting was adjourned at 7:05 pm. The next scheduled Board
meeting will be at 6:00 pm on Tuesday (July 13, 2010).

POSTSCRIPT: We were asked if the EWMGA wanted
to handle a Calcutta event as part of the club-sponsored
Member/Member tournament on October 16-17 and we responded
affirmatively.
