EWMGA BOARD MEETING

MAY 9, 2011

The meeting took place yesterday 5/9/11 at 6 PM as planned at the EW Clubhouse. The following board members were in attendance : Bob Smith , Mark Dickson, Jim Gould, Bruce Worthington, Sergio Silva, Mike Smithson, and Allen Whitten. Phil Suiter from Canongate was present as well. Bob Smith called the meeting to order to discuss the upcoming Member Guest that is scheduled to take place on Saturday May 21st. There are about 20 players signed to play right now. The question came up as to what to do if we do not get to the ideal 40 players. The decision was to run the tournament any way. The format will be six holes as best ball, six holes as alternate shot and six holes as Texas Scramble. The club will decide what holes will be played on each format and all players will play the same holes under each format. There might be a shot gun start if we get to 40 players, otherwise there will be T times assigned and if so all groups will start on hole one. We agreed that if T times are assigned the Alternate shot format should be the last six holes to be played. The alternate shot format means that the person that last putts would be the second to tee of on the next hole. At the start teams will select who tees of first and alternate from then on.

The Tee gift for players were discussed. We went from a glove and a golf balls to Phil's suggestion of a gift certificate that will be either $20.00 or $25.00 dollars in pro shop merchandise or pro shop credit.

The lunch was mentioned to be Pork and or Chicken sandwiches.

We discussed the member member coming up as well the first weekend in June. Phil asked the EWMGA run the Calcutta, and we said we would as usual on Friday evening. Phil is proposing a shootout mini event on Friday before the Calcutta that was well received by all. The idea would be for players participating to sign up for a small fee ($20.00 per team) and play a shootout on hole number 9. This event would be alternate shot and the winners would get cash prices. Players tied would go back to the T on hole number 9 till the winners emerge.

Questions were also asked about the condition of the fairways at EW. They seem to be growing slow and are very hard with many bare spots. Phil said they have two more aerification treatments coming up and hopefully this will help.

The meeting was adjourned around 7 PM
